Hard To Find Films Films From the Silent era and up that you can't find anywhere else!
BUKOWSKI AT BELLEVUE extremely rare Bukowski 1970
In the Spring of 1970 Charles Bukowski, then little known, packed his overnight bag, locked the door of his tumbledown East Hollywood apartment behind him, and took his first plane ride to the state of Washington to read at Bellevue Community College.
This pioneer reading (only his fourth ever) was videotaped in black and white using two cameras by students and then the film was basically forgotten for 18 years!
The quality of this footage is about a 6.5 to maybe 7 out of possible 10, NOT because of generational quality loss, but because that is the quality of the original footage. This is as good as you are going to find.
As one viewer wrote of this DVD, "What a joy this DVD is, an artifact from another time, from the sound of CB'S voice to the funny wanderings of the camera man, this is a DVD that all serious and not so serious lovers of poetry should have. I have watched it twice today, and the defects in the quality of the original tape do not detract at all, rather they seem somehow to enhance the experience of listening and watching the DVD.It is a wonderful antidote to all the slick product around,so much style at the expense of content. This DVD is content at the expense of style."
Region 1 DVD format ONLY. DVDs are DVD-R technology. DVD-R discs are compatible with most newer DVD players from approximately 2002 and up. Virtually all future players from major companies will be DVD-R compatible and many current DVD players are DVD-R compatible even though this format may not be listed on their disc compatibility charts. Please be advised that it is YOUR responsibility to verify that your player is capable of playing DVD-Rs. Due to the vast variety of DVD players, we will NOT accept returns on these items due to incompatibility. If you are unsure of your player's compatibility please consult either\both of these frequently-updated, online compatibility charts for a comprehensive list of most older DVD players and their model numbers:
