Here’s how they work:
To seal your Whistle Vac container, simply snap on the cover, lock the handles down and press firmly on the center of the lid. A soft whistling sound signals that air is escaping, creating the vacuum (and the red Vacuum Indicator goes down). It's that easy. To release the vacuum, just pull up the blue valve and lift the handles. Another whistle accompanies the breaking of the vacuum seal (and the red Indicator Button pops back up).

Whistle Vac is Made to Last...
Made of polycarbonate resin, Whistle Vac lids are almost unbreakable. Polycarbonate is the same material used to make aircraft windshields. Polycarbonate is a clean, clear plastic that also makes these containers beautiful, as well as functional. The bottoms of the containers are made of polypropylene resin, which is the most commonly used plastic in food storage.

Whistle Vac is safe to use in the Freezer, Microwave, Dishwasher and of course, the Refrigerator. They can be taken straight from the freezer to the microwave time and time again! An added benefit of Whistle Vac containers are they can be placed in the microwave with the lid on, and you don't even have to break the seal! The lid will vent itself and the steam will release through the vacuum valve, eliminating spills and splatters in the microwave! This also makes it safe and easy for kids to use them in the microwave themselves!
