1920 VINTAGE NAVAJO SOUTH WESTERN WOOL RUG

Beautiful circa 1920s vintage original Navajo or southwestern rug made from gorgeous woven wool in elegant shades of both dark and cocoa color brown with rich vivid red and white design. Features a two panel construction with a hand sewn wool stitch down the center to connect the panels, an ivory color fringe along the finish. Condition is vintage excellent with no discoloration or dryness. A reinforced ten stitch was sewn down the center for added support due to original wool thread breaks, should be on no issue and does not distract at all. Discovered in a beautiful country estate located on the Hudson river in up state New York. A most stylish and artistic vintage decoration. Navaho weaving that is attributed to the Teec Nos Pos area. It was woven by an expert weaver on a primitive upright loom of both Native hand shorn, hand carded and tightly handspun silky old long staple Churro and Merino sheep wool, both warp & weft. The design here is a very decorative central straight line concentric diamond surrounded by red stepped wing tips. This motif is placed at the center of the very nice variegated natural grayish brown field. Would look great hanging on any wall.
