1933 World's Fair Progress Bulletins Set 88+ issues
This is a good run of Progress. Progress was a weekly bulletin which was sent from the organizers of the 1933 Chicago World's Fair to newspapers, businesses, states, etc. to inform them about the progress of the fair. (And to convince them that the World's Fair was actually going forward, even though there was a Depression.) These bulletins included information on the latest companies to sign up for exhibit space, different states and countries which were signing up for the fair, pictures of fair buildings being constructed, ticket sales, etc. These are hard to find as they were not available to the general public. This near-complete set of 88 bulletins gives you a unique insight into the inner workings of the fair as it went from the drawing board to reality. These bulletins were normally folded and mailed each week. This set is from the files of A Century of Progress and many are in very good to near mint condition - unfolded. There are a few (24 or so) which are folded, have stains, have tears, 3-ring binder holes or ink marks. (Around 8 of these have an ink stamp from the Art Institute on the cover, as they were included in the planning of the fair) Out of a total of 119 Progress bulletins that were issued over the four year period from 1931 to 1934, these are the only ones that are missing: 1931: 4, 5, 27, 29 & 39 ; 1932: 1,6, 9, 15, 22, 24, 28, 29, 30, 34, 35, 36, 39 48, 49, 51 & 52; 1933: 2, 4, 5, 6 & 7 ; 1934: 2, 5, 9 & 10. There are 88 different issues in this auction + a special issue which was printed specially for the Coca Cola convention in Chicago (which is identical to the regular issue except for a small article on the Coca Cola convention). The Progress bulletins measure 8-1/2" x 11" and are four pages.
