1963 Dec Highland Park News Mag Lake Forest Illinois IL
This is the December 5, 1963 issue of the Highland Park News (Illinois). The inside "Featuring" section was inserted in the local magazines for all these towns and may have something from these other towns: Highwood, Deerfield, Vernon Hills, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. The magazine is an oversize magazine measuring 11" x 15" and has 108 pages. The cover shows Christmas Seals and the Christmas Seal X-Ray mobile unit. There is a great full-page article with photos of Santa Claus landing by helicopter in downtown Highland Park. There is a special 24 page advertising section by the Lake Forest Chamber of Commerce highlighting Lake Forest businesses with lots of photos. There are lots of articles on local events and people including: a great 4 picture group showing the Pearl Theatre in Highland Park being demolished to build a used car lot, a 9 hole golf course in Highland Park would cost the park board $590,000, the Russell family of Highwood opens a laudromat, Boy Scouts column and cub scout photos, pictorial on local men sailing on the cold Lake, 2 page article on the 22nd anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, a nice full page of ads for local movie theaters, a couple Girl Scout articles (no photos), Ginni Clemens playing guitar at coffee house, a page of sports - Giants edge North Chicago in basketball, a full page with photos of Rotary Club observing 33rd charter day, etc. There are lots of great ads for local businesses. The magazine is in very good condition - the pages are yellowed with age - there is a small tear in the corner of the cover. SOMEONE WILL HAVE LOTS OF FUN LOOKING THROUGH THIS MAGAZINE - GREAT FOR SOMEONE WHO LIVED IN THE AREA BACK IN 1963! Postage would be $9 to California, but only $6 if you live in Illinois.
