1976 Kinks RCA Record Store Display Celluloid Heroes
This is an original record store standee made by RCA Victor Records to promote the Kinks LP "The Kinks Greatest - Celluloid Heroes" (RCA APL1-1743). The standee is a cover that had the front slick. The cover did not have a back slick on it and the back is blank. The blank back cover was machine cut, so that a flap on the back could be swung out and the cover could sit upright on record store counters or in its window. The back cover also had tabs cut at the top and bottom so that the record store owner could flip the top and bottom one out to tape or tac it up to the wall. The standee is in good condition - there are four pairs of staple holes along the top edge and one pair of staple holes in each of the bottom corners (the record store owner re-used this by stapling another slick over it, that other slick actually protected this Kinks cover) - there is a white vertical line/residue going from the top to bottom on the front on the left side, 2-3/4" from the left edge (see photos) - there are 3 small bubbles (in the bacl background beneath the right two stars - the back has some light dirt. I purchased this about 15 years ago when I cleaned out an old record store that had been open for over 50 years. I purchased many promotional displays that had been sitting in the back of the store, some were from the 1940s! A HARD-TO-FIND KINKS PROMOTIONAL DISPLAY THAT YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN IN RECORD STORES BACK IN 1976! Postage is $6.00.
