HemisFair 68 Que Sera Large Pop Art Pre-Fair Booklet San Antonio Richard Wilson
This is a booklet on HemisFair '68 with "?Que Sea?" on the cover. It measures 5" x 14" and has 28 pages. The booklet has some "pop art" inspired pages inside. The inside front cover is whote and hot pink (inspired by Mexican paper flag cutouts). The first page has white, purple and gold colors (inspired by 18th century Latin American architectural forms). The last page is gold and black (inspired by North American Indian baskets). The inside back cover is red, white and blue (inspired by 19th century U.S. patchwork quilts). When you fold down the inside back cover it is all hot pink and gives the credits: Designer: Richard Wilson, Editorial Consultant: Frank Duane, and Photography: Gilbert Barrera and Jim Murray. Litho in USA with code "5M964" which I think means they printed 5000 of these in September, 1964. The booklet has text in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The booklet has pages on: a quote and photo by Lyndon Johnson, a photo and quote by John Connally, some background information on San Antonio mentioning that it is the 15th largest metropolitan area in Chicago and that Seattle, which hosted the 1962 World's Fair is the 19th largest, it mentions the planning that is going on and that the government and businesses are behind it, it lists the Executive Committee and Staff. This appears to be one of the early booklets that would have been sent to foreign countries, businesses, etc. to drum up interest in exhibiting at the HemisFair 68 exposition. The booklet is in good condition - there is a 1-1/2" scrape on the front cover in the lower right hand corner (the indentation can be seen on the inside front cover also) - there are a couple bends on the right edge/1 inch of the booklet. AN INTERESTING HEMISFAIR '68 ITEM! Postage would be $5.00.
