1950s Beta Zeta at Theta Chi MSU Plate Michigan State University Homer Laughlin
This is a circa mid to late 1950s Fraternity plate with artwork of the "Beta Zeta at Theta Chi" house at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. On the back it says "Beta Zeta Chapter of Theta Chi was installed at Michigan State University on June 10, 1939. The present house at 453 Abbott Road was rebuilt in 1954." The plate measures 9-1/8" in diameter. The back of the plate is marked by the maker "Eggshell Theme" "Homer Laughlin". The artwork of the MSU Fraternity was by "World Wide Art Studio" Covington, Tennessee (also marked on the back of the plate). The World Wide mark is over the Homer Laughlin stamp, so I can't read the date code that it seems is usually on the bottom of the Homer stamp. But I believe this dates from the mid 1950s to the early 1960s, at the latest. (I don't know much about plates, china, etc. but I tried to determine the date from looking at other Homer listings). The plate is in good condition - I can't see any cracks or crazing - there are a couple small nicks from the gold edging - there is a 2" brown mark on the back. A NICE PIECE OF MSU / THETA CHI MEMORABILIA! When packed this will ship at the 2 pound rate, so postage will range from $6 to $10, depending on your distance from Chicago. Check the postage calculator.
