2 1996 Jack Higgins Orig Editorial Cartoons 1968 Democratic National Convention
This is two pieces of original artwork by Jack Higgins for Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoons dated 1995 and 1996 dealing with the upcoming August, 1996 Democratic National Convention. Both also reference the turbulent 1968 Democratic National Convention, the last time the Democrats had their convention in Chicago. The first one is dated 1995 and shows the Police Red Squad with "A Look Back to the Next Democratic Convention". (In 1995, in preparation for the 1996 Democratic Convention Chicago officials tried to get the feds to ease federal rules, so that the police could gather intelligence on possible political terrorists.) The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 14-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in very good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/ light dirt on the art - there are editor notes written in pencil along the left edge. The second piece of original art is dated 1996 and references "The Exorcist (Revisited)", "Welcome to Chicago" with light coming from the second floor window (1968) of the house. The artwork measures approx. 11" x 15-3/4". The artwork is in good condition except for a couple small tears along the border and a few creases - there is a 6" diagonal crease along the bottom half of the right border - there is a 5" diagonal crease with a couple smaller ones above it in the upper right border - there is a 3" diagonal crease in the upper left corner of the border - there are a few smaller creases along the edges - there is a 1/2" tear/split along the top of the upper right border (where it says "Caption" in pencil - there is a 1/2" tear/split along the right edge just below center - there are editor notes in pencil along the top border - there is a number written in red in the lower left hand corner - there is some light dirt / smudges along the borders. A NICE PAIR OF ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECES OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator.
