2003 Jack Higgins Irv Kupcinet Tribute Original Editorial Cartoon Art Chicago
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 2003 and was probably drawn shortly after Kupcinet died. The artwork is a tribute to Irv Kupcinet, who was a colleague of Jack Higgins. (Though "Kup" started his column at the Chicago Daily News, a forerunner to the Chicago Sun-Times, back in 1943, almost 40 years prior to Higgins hire) He published his Kup's Column" from 1943 until 2003. He also had a TV talk show from 1959 to 1986. The cartoon shows en empty chair in front of a computer with keyboard at a desk. In shadow against the wall you see the silhouette of Kup, cigar in mouth, banging away on an old fashioned typewriter. The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 14-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/ light dirt on the art - you can see where the artist made some touch-ups to the art - there is a small (3/4) diagonal crease in the upper left hand corner.
