Antique flat jug / bottle sits on side. Well Painted
I am not sure what this is, I call it a flat jug or bottle. The bottom is round and can not stand up so it sits on its side as it was made too.
I purchased it not long ago because I thought it was very striking and interesting but I have been going nuts with my spending, and have way to may antiques for my home. BUT I KEEP BUYING them....umm do you think I have a problem! I told my husband I need a bigger home to put them in... he didnt seem to crazy about the idea!
Well anyway about this piece, it is obviously hand made. You can see some minor flaws from its craftmanship such as on the rim of the opening I would say it is pottery, . Floral design grapes flowers and leaves.
7 inches long by 4 1/2 inches wide and is only 1 3/4 inches deep.
It looks a bit dirty on the rim and back and I am not sure if it is mixed with the glaze or can me cleaned up. I do not want to take a chance on ruining it. There are a few spots where the paint is wearing, natural wear with age.
The paint and colors are surprisingly vivid! Especially considering I believe it is a very old piece! At one time there was probably a stopper or cork in it
There are no markings to go by and if anyone knows anything more about it I would love to know the info you have!
I found it to be a very interesting piece and quite frankly I am having trouble parting with it, But I hope it finds a home that has room to display it. It is definately a conversation piece! and I really hope the winning bidder is just as intrigued as i am!
