Welcome to the auction of a absolutely guaranteed original very fine condition American apprx. 81 by 81 inch folded but now linenbacked 6 sheet 1942 first release movie poster for YANKEE DOODLE DANDY (Warner Brothers, 1942), directed by Michael Curtiz. The film is an autobiographical musical of George M. Cohan (1878-1942), a legendary Broadway showman, composer, actor and dancer, as played by James Cagney who won the Academy Award for best actor for this film. The movie stars James Cagney, Joan Leslie, Walter Huston, Richard Whorf, Irene Manning, George Tobias, Rosemary DeCamp, Jeanne Cagney and Frances Langford. This poster was auctioned off about 10 years ago and brought $2000 in a Christie's auction, I am asking $2800 although I think it's worth far more but I need cash so avail yourself this opportunity to pick up a extremely rare historic piece and about the nicest Cagney piece you'd ever be able to find. I have noticed anything on this title has been very strong recent years like just one lobby card ending July 26th, 2005 Bruce Hershenson sold at auction for almost $400. I was in a hurry as I've been meaning to get this piece on my auction/website platforms and I photographed this fast I'm sorry for the trash on the floor and not properly supporting the poster, there is some paper obscuring the bottom and stuff but you can get a sense of it's size within the room. These top 2 photo's are of the exact poster for sale. I have added a photo borrowed from the internet that shows the poster perfectly flat that isn't very good but as you can see my digital photo's are very accurately showing you exactly what the poster looks like in person instead of some crappy generic image like the bottom photo . Add $35.00 for shipping IN A VERY THICK TUBE to your winning bid in the USA . Outside the USA you will need to contact me before bidding as some countries accept long tubes for delivery many do not .
