2 Very Early FARMER'S ALMANACKS-1808, 1829 (MAINE FARMERS' ALMANAC) $50.00

I am offering 2 VERY EARLY Farmer's Almanacs. The first is "The Farmer's Almanack Calculated on a New and Improved Plan For the Year of Our Lord 1808. Being Bissextile of Leap Year, and Thirty-Second of the Independence of America." Written by Robert B. Thomas and published by John West, Boston, 1808. The title page is torn and the bottom half is missing. The remaining pages are generally intact--some edgewear and edge chipping. It has been sewn/stitched together in the manner of repair often seen in these early books of this period. Measures 4 1/2 X 7 1/4, 50 pages. The second is "The Maine Farmers' Almanac for the Year of Our Lord 1829; Being the First After Bissextile of Leap Year, and the Fifty-Third--Fifty-Fourth of Our Country's Independence." Written by Daniel Robinson and published by Glazier & Co., Hallowell, Maine, 1829. Measures 5 X 7 3/4, 48 pages. This book has survived a fire-there are burn stains to the last 12 pages, and portion of pages burned away in the last 4 pages. Shows edgewer and edge chipping, as well as an old stitch repair along the spine. Almanacs contain wonderful period illustrations and many features articles and important information for the reader. These are wonderful and early one are quite SCARCE. A few copies of these early almanacs can be found on other internet booksites for upwards of $150 to $500!!!!! Contemporary on-demand reprints are available as well, often for upwards of $50 EACH!! I will offer this grouping of both EARLY ALMANACS for only $50.00 plus $3.00 S&H in the US. Shipping costs to Canada will be considerably less than the general international rates quoted. Thanks for shopping mellowpagesrarebooks.com
