This vintage post card depicts Chief Cooper Sylestine, born 1879, who was elected Tribal chief in 1936 to serve as the only Indian chief in Texas. Elected to a life term, chief Sylestine is the ok=ldest of 550 tribal members of the 4,444-acre reservation of rolling timberland with spring fed creeks. the card was published by T. A. Wright and has not been used. it is in excellent condition.
