5 Metropolitan Museum of Art Book Box Albums Miniatures
The following listing is for a set of five book boxes containing albums of miniature painting stamps from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Each album features famous art works and painters from various time periods with large stamp paintings, as well as sculptures, pottery, glass, and so forth. The date 1950 appears on an insert in one of the albums. Artists featured in the albums include Van Der Weydon, Petrus Christus, Van Der Goes, Bouts, Memling, Reubens, Van Dyck, Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Leonardo Da Vinci, Homer, Sargent, Whistler, Pieter Brugel, Paul Cezanne, Degas, Renoir, Goya, El Greco, Velasquez, and Pissaro. They also include a series on Japanese prints, six centuries of flower painting, great drawings, and much, much more. These sets are not complete, but there are 23 albums or booklets in total in the set. The owner has written on the inside cover of each book box denoting what booklets or albums were included in each when purchased. These are in good condition, but the book boxes do have some bending, bent corners, general wear, and one has a chewed area. The lettering on the spine of one book box has faded or worn off. Nothing you wouldn't expect to find on this type of item for the age. The boxes measure approximately 11" by 7 1/4". I have left them in as found condition, so you may want to clean them, but I leave that choice to the buyer. Lots of fabulous information and art work!!
