Vtg Boxed Set Beethoven Recorded in Germany
The following listing is for a boxed set of eight 33 1/3 records, entitled 'BEETHOVEN~The Nine Symphonies, as well as the Leonore No. 3 Egmont, and Prometheus Overtures. I've taken a shot of the back of the album so you can read for yourself what is actually on these albums. The record label is Seraphim. They were recorded in Germany, although it says 'Mastered by Capitol Records' also. These are recordings by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Rudoph Kempe. Included with the boxed set is a large size booklet containing the complete notes on the 9 symphonies, by Ernest Newman. The records appear to be in quite good condition, without any major scratches, but I have no turntable to play them on. The original box is in good condition, but does show some wear on the front. Also, the edge of the box where it opens is bowed out a bit. There are some faint discoloration spots on the back of the box and the booklet. I bought out a large collection of various records and old books, and this does have a bit of musty odor from having been stored for many years.
