INTO HISTORICAL LACE MAKING & NEEDLEWORK RE-CREATION?

This CD contains some very charming patterns for making the Victorian and prior era's teneriffe needlework items that were so popular in the 1800's through the 1930's. The degree of needlework difficultly could range from beginner to expert levels depending on the type of wheel pattern you would choose to utilize! (Originals are NOT for sale)

You can find both the antique, vintage and contemporary linen, cotton and silk threads and lace making materials needed (lace making wheels, needles, etc) on eBay by doing a general search for said items. You just have to look a little bit! :^) Of course, you can also obtain them from your local hobby, craft or fabric stores...

All the beautiful wheel laces are shown in the listing collage and there are approximately 65 individual wheels and finished doily and clothing items shown in the product.

An excerpt:

"The varied and beautiful designs that can be made by even the most inexperienced needlewoman is alone sufficient to insure lasting favor for this form of pastime... By using fine or coarse thread there is no end to the pretty effects obtainable.

There are but three principles involved in making Teneriffe lace...Winding the pins for the foundation, weaving or darning, and tying the knot, which is the same as is used in Battenberg or drawn work. The foundation of e every wheel and square is wound in the same manner. The center of every wheel and square is woven in the same manner, and the knotting of the last row is the same in all. Thus it can be readily seen that making Teneriffe lace...is simple, easy, and a pleasant and profitable pastime.

The following are but a few of the namy suggestions for its uses: Cener pieces, doilies, lunch cloths, dresser scarfs, sofa pillows, pincushions, sash curtains and full length curtains, bed spreads, ect.; combined with Battenberg braids or netting, or used by iteself it is beautiful. Medallions of the lace are used button-holed on shirt waists in either cotton, linen or silk, then cut out material underneath and feather stitch around medallions or mak French knots around them. They may be used also for yokes, large or small, collars, underwear, handkerchiefs (using the little delicat half wheels), baby bonnets, etc.

A six-year-old child can make Teneriffe and Filet Guipure Lace...with the simple and complete instructions that are given. The only articles needed besides the Wheel or Square and the Book of Instructions are a needle, pins to hold the thread and the thread itself. A common needle, pincushion, ordinary pins and any kind of thread, cotton, linen or silk, may be used..."
