Page 53/54.
Superb authentic color map.
The map of Mexico (p. 53)
clearly shows immense detail of coastal lines and the interior, including rivers, mountains,
states, tribes (Apaches...), major cities,
and railroads. The map also shows most of Texas.
The map of Ontario (p. 54) is equally detailed.
The inset shows the
Northwestern Part
of Ontario (bordering with "Unorganized Territory").
As a special bonus, the winning bider will also receive page 123/124.
Page 123 contains interesting information on various countries and states:
Mexico ("It is a federal republic, and is the most prosperous and wealthy country of the
Western Hemisphere excepting the United States"),
Labrador,
Newfoundland,
Iceland ("It has an exceedingly rich and ancient
literature, consisting of poetry, history and mythology, and its language is
especially interesting to antiquaries"), Greenland, Mexico, Central America,
Island of Hayti (Haiti and the Dominican Republic),
Jamaica, Bahama Islands ("They are thinly
populated and some of them unexplored"), and
Bermuda Islands ("The climate is fine and many Americans winter there").
Page 124 is devoted to The Island of Cuba.
There are three
beautiful pictures:
-
Engraving, Castle of Chapultepec (Mexican Whire House), with Its Gardens (p. 123)
-
Photograph, Street in Havana, with Side View of Cathedral (p. 124)
-
Photograph, Typical Home in the Interior of Cuba (p.124)
It is a magnificent document and a treat for history buffs.

Pages measure 11"x 13 1/2".
The condition is
very good.
Imperfections:
some yellowing of paper, appropriate for a turn-of-the-century map.
Nice addition to any map collection.
Will look great with a mat and frame.
