Saint-Pierre and Miquelon is an archipelago about 15 miles off the
southern coast of the island of Newfoundland.
The first permanent French fishing settlement was
established in 1604. The islands were subsequently exchanged between the French
and British several times until restored permanently to France in 1816 under the Treaty
of Paris (1814). The map marks the islands as Canadian.
St. Pierre is named St. Peters I. and Langlade - Langley I.
The map is large;
engraving measures 16 1/4" x 21 1/4" on 17 1/4" x 24" sheet.
One centerfold, as issued.
Printed in color on strong quality paper.
The map is in good/very good condition.
Imperfections:
uniform age toning; some browning; one tiny tear in margin.
Will look great with a mat and frame.
