1875 Four Views in Constantinople from "Picturesque Europe"
Excellent Engraving
This beautiful authentic steel engraving appeared in "Picturesque Europe
with Illustrations on Steel & Wood by the Most Eminent Artists"
published c.1875 in London by Cassell, Peter, and Galpin, Vol. 4, p. 158.
It shows four views from Constantinople:

The Golden Horn (an estuary dividing the city of Istanbul)
-
The Mosque of Sultan Ahmed (Sultanahmet Camii, in English commonly
called the Blue Mosque),
one of the greatest masterpieces of Islamic architecture.

The Seven Towers (Yedikule)
-
Leander's Tower (Maiden's Tower; The tower was first built by Alkibiades
in the 6th century BC)
The description of Istanbul ("Stamboul") is contained on verso.

The condition is
very good. Imperfections:
age toning.
