  • Contents:
    DON'T BE A SUCKER (1947, 17:21)
An extraordinary film produced by the U.S. War Department on the eve of the Cold War urging Americans not to give into the kind of fanaticism and hate-mongering at home that the country fought to defeat abroad during the Second World War.

    LONGINES CHRONOSCOPE: HERMAN TALMADGE (1954, 14:26) (1960, 20:03)
The surroundings of this Longines-Wittnauer Watch Company public affairs television show are modest in content, and the mood is therefore intentionally moderate in tone. Then the guest of the show, Governor of Georgia Herman Talmadge, opens up his mouth, and the contrast of his words to his surroundings becomes at times hair-raising. With the birth of the modern civil rights movement in general, and school desegregation in particular, being the overarching topic at hand, discussion about democractic party politics and industrial development does little to escape these historic developments. Though not itself an anti-fanaticism film, it is in fact a time-capsule containing all that progressive social politics has worked half a century to keep a thing of the past.

    OPERATION CORRECTION (1961, 43:50)
The American Civil Liberties Union's rebuttal to the House Un-American Activities Committee's film OPERATION ABOLITION. OPERATION ABOLITION was an attempt to characterize as communist inspired one of the seminal events of the 1960s social revolution, that being the May 1960 student and activist demonstrations against the activities of the committee. OPERATION CORRECTION entirely deconstructs that film, while at the same time making the same case against the committee that the students and activists were.
