1987 Jack Higgins Orig Editorial Cartoon Art Tammy Faye Jim Bakker Jerry Falwell
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1987 on the front. On the back there is a date stamp of April 30, 1987 6:02 p.m. so this probably was published around May 1, 1987. The cartoon reads "Banished from Paradise" at the top, showing a drawing of what looks like Jerry Falwell banishing Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker from what probably is the Garden of Eden. According to news accounts Jerry Falwell barred Jim Bakker from returning to the PTL Club on April 28, 1987, so this cartoon came out a couple days after that. The artwork measures approx. 12-1/2" x 17-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. On the back you can see some markings / notes made by Sun-Times editors. The artwork is in good condition - there are some light corrections and touch-ups on the art - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there is some light dirt along the right edge and the lower edge margins - there is a small (1/4") tear/split along the upper right margin - on the back there is some transfer from other art that was stored underneath it. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator.
