1984 Jack Higgins Orig Editorial Cartoon Geraldine Ferraro Apollo 11 First Woman
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1984. The artwork deals with Geraldine Ferraro being the first female candidate for Vice President from a major American political party. Walter Mondale is shown in a makeshift rocket. The caption at the top of the art is a nod to Neil Armstrong 's statement when he stepped onto the lunar surface from Apollo 11. The caption reads "One small step for man...one giant leap for womankind..." The artwork measures approx. 12-1/4" x 17-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/ light dirt on the art - there are editor notes written on the back along with a scribble - the artist's work shows, with some minor corrections as the piece was crafted - on the back there is ink that has migrated from other artwork that was stored beneath it. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for a few other cartoons by Jack Higgins.
