1997 Jack Higgins Original Cartoon Bill Clinton State Union OJ Simpson Verdict
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1997. The artwork shows President Bill Clinton speaking with "State of the Union" on the lectern with his head sticking out from a curtain with the letters "OJ" on it. President Bill Clinton gave his State of the Union speech on Tuesday, February 4, 1997. O.J. Simpson's civil trial verdict was being awaited at the same time. The broadcast networks went live with the State of the Union, but reportedly some other stations had a split screen showing both the State of the Union and the OJ verdict. There are some editor notes at the bottom in pencil showing it was run on Thursday, so this would have been published Thursday, February 6, 1997. The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 14-3/4". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there are a couple lines in pencil in the upper right and lower right borders. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for a few other cartoons by Jack Higgins.
