1997 Joe Camel Original Editorial Cartoon Art Jack Higgins Cigarettes FTC
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1997. The artwork probably refers to the May, 1997 Federal Trade Commission charge that R.J. Reynolds was causing substantial injury to the health and safety of children and adolescents through the Joe Camel advertising campaign and that the advertising campaign Violated Federal Law. The editorial cartoon has a smoking camel saying "Remember kids...not buying cigarettes will stunt my growth." The artwork measures approx. 11-5/8" x 14-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created and you can see some corrections as he crafted his artwork. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there are a few editor notes along the bottom margin. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for a few other cartoons by Jack Higgins.
