1992 Chicago Fire Department Lost Exams Orig Cartoon Art Lake Calumet Landfill
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1992. The artwork deals with a problem that reportedly had plagued the Chicago Fire Department for several years - lost / delayed fire department promotional exams. (I didn't see any news reports of the exams ending up in Lake Calumet landfills, but years later the EPA did put the Lake Calumet Cluster on a Superfund list.) On the back of the artwork there is a partial preliminary drawing for the finished drawing on the front. The artwork measures approx. 10-1/4" x 14". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges - the bottom border has uneven border, from 10-1/4" height on the left edge to 11" on the right edge - the artist's work shows with some corrections as the piece was crafted. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for some other original artwork by Jack Higgins.
