1982 NFL Football Player Strike Original Editorial Cartoon Art Jack Higgins
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1982. (The second year Jack Higgins worked for the Chicago Sun-Times) The artwork deals with the NFL players who by August were threatening to strike. They eventually went on strike September 20. This cartoon was probably run on the Sunday of week one in the season. Written at the top of the art is "Pro Football Strike" (This was probably the caption that was run with this cartoon) "Sunday" is also written at the top of the art that is the day it was run in the newspaper. The artwork measures approx. 11-3/4" x 17-3/4". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there are some corrections made by the artist as he perfected the artwork - there are some editor's notes written on the back - on the back there is some spots where ink from other pieces of his artwork that were store underneath this one - on the back at the bottom there is a small piece of tape and a sticker - near the bottom on the front, to the right of "WEEK II" there is a small mark, possible a piece of tape. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for some other original artwork by Jack Higgins.
