1999 Supreme Court Rules for Street Gangs vs Chicago Orig Editorial Cartoon Art
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1999. The artwork deals with the City of Chicago's criminal street gang loitering ordinance which prohibited criminal street gang members from loitering in public places. The City of Chicago vs Morales case ended up in the United States Supreme Court where the U.S. Supremes affirmed the Illinois Supreme Court in that the street gang loitering ordinance violated due process and was therefore unconstitutional. The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 14-1/2". On the back of it there is a preliminary drawing for this cartoon. This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few notes by the editor on the bottom margin - there is little light dirt along the right margin - there are a couple light marks / smudges - you can see some corrections that the artist made has he crafted the art - there is a little right in pencil in the upper right hand corner. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for some other original artwork by Jack Higgins.
