1988 Chicago Fire Department Commissioner Galante Original Cartoon Art CFD
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1988 on the front. On the back there is a date stamp of October 19, 1988 at 4:28 p.m.. so this probably was published around October 20, 1988. According to a news article from around that time, the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation had just told Chicago Fire Commissioner Galante to cease and desist practicing architecture in Illinois since he didn't have an architect license. According to the article, the BGA said Galante may have done some drawings/plans for a Norwood Park firehouse.
The artwork measures approx. 10-3/4" x 15-1/4". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. On the back you can see some markings / notes made by Sun-Times editors. The artwork is in good condition - there are some light corrections / touch-ups on the art as the artist crafted his work - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there is a small bend in the lower left hand corner - there is a stray pencil mark in the lower left border. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for a few other cartoons by Jack Higgins.
