1986 NBC Nightly News Abu Abbas Interview Orig Editorial Cartoon Art Tom Brokaw
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1986. It is date stamped on the back Mar 8 '86 6:25pm so it was probably used the next day. This art is in response to NBC Nightly News airing an interview with Mohammed Abu Abbas on May 5, 1986. The NBC Nightly News was anchored by Tom Brokaw who introduced an NBC correspondent's interview with Abbas, who at the time was wanted for a hijacking of a cruise ship. The artwork measures approx. 11-3/8" x 16". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created and you can see where the artist made corrections as he crafted his work. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - there are some notes on the back written by the editor - there is some ink transfer on the back from artwork that was stored under this art.
