1985 Union Carbide WV Chemical Leak Orig Editorial Cartoon Art Jack Higgins
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1985. The artwork probably is in response to news reports in August, 1985 of a chemical leak into the air at a Union Carbide plant in Institute, West Virginia and some residents complained that the plant warning siren didn't go off until 10 to 20 minutes after the leak. The artwork measures approx. 11-3/4" x 17-5/8". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. On the back you can see some markings / notes made by Sun-Times layout editors. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there is some light dirt along the edges - there are small creases / bumps in the corners - you can see where the artist made some corrections as he crafted his work - there is a 3" x 1/2" sticker/tape on the back at the bottom, which was probably put on by the newspaper - there is light dirt on the back of the art and ink transfer on the back from artwork that was stored under this one. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989.
