1996 Prison Chain Gangs in Illinois Land of Lincoln Orig Editorial Cartoon Art
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1996. The artwork shows an agitated Abraham Lincoln looking over at a prison chain gang. Checking back at news stories in 1996 I saw that in May of 1996 prison chain gang legislation passed the Illinois Senate and was sent on to the House. The artwork measures approx. 11" x 15-3/4". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are some touch-ups as the artist crafted his work - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - there is a light 4" diagonal crease in the lower left corner and a smaller one beneath it - there is a 1" diagonal crease in the upper left corner - there is a small number written in the upper left corner -there are some layout editor notes in pencil along the bottom - there is a 2" x 1/2" piece of cellophane tape on the back at the bottom - there is a little writing on the back - there are a few light, small creases. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for some other original artwork by Jack Higgins.
