1986 France Refuses US Overflights to Libya Orig Edit Cartoon Jack Higgins WWII
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1986. It is date stamped on the back Apr 16 '86 at 6:14pm so it was probably used the next day. The art deals with the French government refusing to allow U.S. warplanes to fly through French airspace en route to Libya, which caused the U.S. planes to have to go twice as far to avoid French airspace. The artwork makes reference to the WWII Normandy American Cemetery. The artwork measures approx. 11-3/4" x 17-3/4". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. You can see where the artist made corrections as he crafted the art. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - there are some editor notes written on the back - there is some light dirt along the right and bottom edges on the back - there is a 2" x 1/4" spot on the bottom of the back where a sticker was removed. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for more cartoons by Jack Higgins.
