1986 Ed Kelly Fighting 47th v Chicago Mayor Washington Orig Cartoon Jack Higgins
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1986. It is date stamped on the back Jun 19 '86 at 6:11pm so it was probably used the next day. The art shows Ed Kelly (General Superintendent of the Chicago Park District and the Chicago 47th Ward Democratic Committeeman) and the Fighting 47th while Mayor Harold Washington is almost finished sawing a circle from beneath them. The artwork measures approx. 11-5/8" x 17-5/8". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. You can see where the artist made some corrections as he crafted his work. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - there is a light 2-1/2" x 1/2" vertical shadow going down from the "R" in "your" through the "!" exclamation point and down - there are some editor notes written on the back - there is ink transfer on the back from artwork that was stored under this art - there is some light dirt on the back. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for more cartoons by Jack Higgins.
