1980 George Meany Tribute Original Cartoon AFL CIO Labor Union Jack Higgins
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Daily Northwestern editorial cartoon dated 1980. The art is a tribute to AFL-CIO former president George Meany who died in January of 1980. The caption is hand written on the bottom and reads "Sure, I'll join, brother Meany...but I'll be damned (literally) if I'm gonna take part in any walkout!" The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 17-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. You can see where the artist made corrections as he crafted the art. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - there are a couple editor notes written on the back - the corners have small bends - there is ink transfer on the back from artwork that was stored under this art - there is some light dirt on the back. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for more cartoons by Jack Higgins. If you want more than one, e-mail me so I can combine the postage.
