1985 Jury Rules CBS Libeled Tobacco Co Orig Cartoon Jack Higgins Walter Jacobson
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1985. Checking the internet I found news stories which showed that this art probably refers to a federal jury ruling where Chicago WBBM TV commentator Walter Jacobson and WBBM TV parent company CBS were found to have libeled a tobacco company. (Check news articles online for more info) Walter Jacobson is well known in the Chicago area for his award-winning commentary titled "Perspective" on TV and radio. The artwork measures approx. 12-1/2" x 17-3/4" (though this piece has an unusually wide top margin, so the art is only about 13" tall.) This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. You can see where the artist made corrections as he crafted the art. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - there is a 2" diagonal bend in the lower right corner - there are some editor notes written on the back - there is ink transfer on the back from artwork that was stored under this art - there is a 1/2" x 3" area on the bottom of the back where a label was torn off and has left a surface tear on the back - there is a 1/2" x 2" piece of cello tape on the back near the bottom - there is some light dirt on the back. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator.
