1981 Iran Embassy Hostages Released Orig Cartoon Art Jack Higgins Media Crisis
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Daily Northwestern editorial cartoon dated 1981. The art refers to the release of the 52 hostages that had been taken hostage at the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran in 1979 and who were finally released in January of 1981. The art shows one of the released hostages facing a phalanx of media cameras and microphones. The caption written in pencil at the bottom reads: "How does it feel to be no longer in captivity?...I wouldn't know." is his reply. The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 16-3/4". The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - there are a couple editor notes written on the back - there is ink transfer on the back from artwork that was stored under this art - there is some light dirt on the back.
