1984 Mayor Washington Mr T Ed Vrdolyak Orig Cartoon Art Jack Higgins Chicago
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon. The artwork would have come out in March of 1984 when Chicago Mayor Harold Washington presented Chicago native Mr. T the ceremonial key to the city. Written lightly in pencil on the bottom is "Mr. T Day in Chicago, the Mayor gives him the key to the city". The artist tied in the Mr. T event with the council wars going on in the Chicago City Council in which Alderman Ed Vrdolyak led his majority 29 alderman block to thwart Mayor Washington. The artwork measures approx. 12-1/2" x 17-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/ light dirt on the art - there are a couple numbers written in the lower right hand border - the artist's work shows, with some minor corrections as the piece was crafted - there is some light dirt on the top edge - there are minor bends in the corners - on the back there is ink that has migrated from other artwork that was stored beneath it. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for more cartoons by Jack Higgins.
