1982 Ed Vrdolyak Chicago Harold Washington Reform Showdown Original Cartoon Art
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1982. The artwork shows Chicago alderman / President of Chicago City Council / Chairman of the Cook County Democratic Party Edward Vrdolyak and U.S. Representative Harold Washington both talking reform. Washington would announce his campaign for Mayor of Chicago in December of 1982 and go on to win in 1983. As leader of the opposition to Harold Washington in 1983 Vrdolyak would lock horns with Mayor Washington in the era of council wars. The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 17-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. You can see some corrections that the artist made while crafting the art. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there is a minor bump to the upper left corner - there are layout editor notes on the back - there is a 3" x 1/2" sticker remnant on the back with a smaller surface tear above it - there is ink transfer on the back from artwork that was stored underneath this. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my other listings for more cartoons by Jack Higgins. If you want more than one, e-mail me and I can combine the postage.
