1995 Chicago Robert Taylor Homes Poorest Orig Cartoon Art Public Housing Poverty
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1995. The artwork deals the troubled Robert Taylor Homes complex on the south side of Chicago. This cartoon may have come out after Henry Cisneros, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, called the Robert Taylor Homes "...the worst public housing in America, today". (The government allocated funds to tear down the 28 high rise buildings that held over 4400 apartments. The last high rise was demolished in 2007.) The artwork measures approx. 11-5/8" x 14-1/2". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - you can see some spots where the artist made corrections as he crafted his art - there are a few small marks/smudges/ light dirt on the art - there is a fingerprint on the art just above the word "We're" in "We're #1" - there is a fingerprint just above the art in the top margin on the right side - there is a small bend/crease to the tips of the corners - there are layout editor notes written along the left edge - there is a 2" x 1/2" piece of clear tape on the back at the bottom - there are a few fingerprints on the back. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator.
