1991 House of Rep Votes Down Assault Gun Ban After TX Massacre Orig Cartoon Art
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1991. The artwork deals with the U.S. House of Representatives voting against a ban on military assault rifles. The art reads "The motion to ban military assault rifles is rejected 247-177...with 22 abstentions". The right half of the artwork shows art depicting the tragedy in Killeen, Texas that occurred the day before the vote in October of 1991 in which 22 people were shot to death at a restaurant. The artwork measures approx. 11-1/2" x 15". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. The artwork is in good condition - there are a few small marks/smudges/light dirt on the art - the artist's work shows, with some corrections as the piece was crafted - a number is written in the lower right corner of the border.
