The posters artwork was by Artist: DAN SMITH (1864-1934) . THIS POSTER IS QUITE RARE , AND VERY FEW HAVE EVER SHOWN UP FOR SALE . The poster is almost 100 years old and the colors of the posters are not as bright as they were 100 years ago ! but they are still beautiful and it's very cool that the poster shows it's age and rarity . THE CLOSE-UP SHOTS ARE ENHANCED IN COLOR SATURATION AND CONTRAST just for the fun of it and to convey how the poster must of looked so long ago.. THE BOTTOM PHOTO SHOWS THE BEFORE RESTORATION APPEARANCE -WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ENHANCED , AS YOU CAN SEE IT HAD BRIGHT COLORS FOR IT'S AGE AND HAD PAPER MISSING IN THE LOWER LEFT and had a couple 2 inch border rips that were straight from the border straight inward and now are greatly diminished and professionally restored by the best restorer in the country JAIME MENDEZ in Oceanside, Ca. BUT AFTER I SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS NOW THE POSTER LOOKS AMAZING AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF THE EXPERT PAPER REPLACEMENT AT ALL . THE POSTER NOW LOOKS ABSOLUTELY SEEMLESSLY AWESOME !!! Restorers have very advanced techniques to repair damage with paper replacement and the artwork without any sign that work was done but it is incredibly expensive. In 1926, Philadelphia hosted the Sesquicentennial International Exposition, a world�s fair, to commemorate the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The idea to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence by holding a world�s fair originated in 1916 with John Wanamaker (1838-1922), owner of Wanamaker�s department stores and lone survivor of the 1876 Centennial Exposition�s Finance Committee, who called upon Philadelphia to host an industrial and commercial exposition that would fittingly mark the birth of the United States.
