Kaya is a special from the American Girl Historical Doll line, approved by the Nez Perce Indian tribe for authenticity and accuracy. She has the sweetest, most innocent face and the longest hair of any doll in the collection, with black braids reaching mid-thigh. Kaya is the first in the Historical series, preceding Felicity and Elizabeth, and represents a Nez Perce girl from 1764 who loves horses and the wild country she calls home. Every detail is exquisite, from the shell ornaments in her braids to her hand-decorated buckskin dress with beads and fringe. Her buckskin moccasins with leather ties up to the shins are wonderfully authentic. She also comes with the book *Meet Kaya, An American Girl*, and the back of her neck is stamped �Pleasant Co 2002.�
This is a 2nd Edition production doll; earlier editions had a different belt design tied with rawhide string, which was later revised due to breakage issues.
The doll is in excellent, collector-quality condition, still in her original braids and appearing never removed from her box. Though purchased on the secondary market, she retains her original hang tag, and her face and lip colors are especially beautiful. If not for an extensive collection, she would be a keeper.
Note: The original rubber bands holding the doll in box were replaced with satin ribbon. During this process, it was noticed her legs are slightly loose, a common occurrence with dolls of this age, and repairable through American Girl. Her box has a small tear on one side. If you are sensitive to odors or mold, this may not be the doll for you. She is over 20 years old.
