Double Terminated Smoky Quartz Shard Crystal Tourmaline
This intriguing crystal, from Minas Gerias, Brazil,
is a double terminated shard formation
of smoky quartz.
This marvelous crystal is encrusted with tourmaline.
The tourmaline penetrating the lower tip is green;
the remaining tourmalines appear at first to be black
but close inspection reveals that most,
if not all, are very dark green.
The upper end of the shard
is a delightful castle style termination.
The surfaces are covered with a series of striations
and a few elestial type areas.
This singular crystal
is a whopping 9 1/8" long,
and spans 2 1/2" across and 1" thick.
It weighs 1 pound 6.2 ounces.
