1987 Jack Higgins Original Editorial Cartoon Art Van Gogh Irises Sells $53 Milli
This is the original artwork by Jack Higgins for his Chicago Sun-Times editorial cartoon dated 1987. The artwork would have done shortly after Vincent Van Gogh's Irises sold at auction in 1987 for $53 million dollars. The artwork measures approx. 12-1/2" x 17-3/4". This is the original artwork that Jack Higgins created. On the back you can see some markings / notes made by Sun-Times editors. The artwork is in good condition - there are some light corrections and touch-ups on the art - there are a few small marks/smudges on the art - there is some light dirt along the edges (see photos) - long the upper right margin - there is a 3" x 1/2" sticker on the back at the bottom, which was probably put on by the newspaper. A NICE, ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF EDITORIAL ARTWORK THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED! When packed, this will ship at the 2 pound rate - check the postage calculator. Jack Higgins has worked at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 35 years and won a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1989. Check out my listings for a few other cartoons by Jack Higgins. Combine purchases to save on postage. If you want more than one item, e-mail me and I can send an updated invoice with combined postage. If you are looking for a particular subject, President, Chicago politician, theme, foreign country, etc. let me know and I'll see if I have an editorial cartoon related to it.
